The ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, announced The Town of Normal Facilities Department achieved the ISSA Cleaning Industry Management Standards (CIMS) and the CIMS-Green Building (GB) Certification with Honors.
CIMS and CIMS-GB certification are effectively identify high-quality providers committed to customer satisfaction.
“The Facilities team takes pride in providing safe, clean and welcoming spaces for residents and visitors,” says Mark Clinch, director of Facilities Management. “While challenging, the certification process and third-party assessment validated our green cleaning program and eco-friendly practices. Most importantly, it assures the people we serve the Town is following the industry standard.”
Independent, accredited assessors verify CIMS and CIMS-GB certified firms meet the industry standard for:
- Quality systems
- Service delivery
- Human resources
- Health, safety and environmental stewardship
- Management commitment
- Green Building

Compliance with the standard illustrates the Town of Normal has the systems in place to deliver consistent, professional services designed to meet customer needs and expectations and is prepared to deliver a comprehensive green cleaning program based on Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Buildings (LEED EB).
