Recently, the Town engaged WSP/Parsons Brinckerhoff to assist with identifying, evaluating, and ultimately determining which pedestrian rail crossing alternatives that are most feasible for the Town to consider. This analysis was performed so that the Town of Normal is positioned to apply for future funding to complete the project in accordance with existing federal guidelines. The Town held an open house on Thursday, April 27, and the public was given the opportunity to provide feedback, gain insight into this process, and learn how each alternative is being evaluated.
For the next 30 days, the Town is accepting public comments. Public comments and questions from the open house and during the 30-day comment period will become part of the public record and made available to the Council for their consideration in their decision. The final choice of an alternative for the pedestrian crossing is tentatively scheduled to be made by the Normal Town Council in June 2017.
